In its own words it is \"the main venue in the capital region to offer cultural, educational, and entertainment opportunities to Hungarians and all interested parties living in the region\".\n\nThe corporation states its purpose in five lines: provide community space for Hungarians of the National Capital Region; preserve and foster Hungarian ethnic identity, culture, history, language and customs and promote them within Canada; co-operate with Canadian Hungarian organizations and keep connections with Hungarians all over the world; help new Hungarian landed immigrants settle in the National Capital Region; and actively participate in Canada's multicultural scene and uphold Canadian values.\n\nIts programmes include performances by visiting folk dance, theatre and musical artists and ensembles from Hungary and the Hungarian diaspora, brought under the roof by the Centre's Board of Directors. The library holds nearly 4,000 titles and doubles as the room for Hungarian language classes, classical literature circles, art and craft activities and smaller presentations. On Fridays the house cooks: a heritage Hungarian meal published week by week, takeout collected between 4 and 6 p.m. and dinner served in the hall from 6 to 7, with reservations closing at noon on the Thursday before.\n\nThe hall seats 120 people and holds no more than 140. Behind it is a kitchen with a gas stove of eight burners and two independent ovens, a microwave, two fridges and two industrial coffee makers; there is a licensed bar, computer-controlled stage lighting, a 16-channel digital mixer, a 4K projector and free parking for about 25 cars. The hall is rented out for weddings, showers, birthdays, graduations, conferences, training sessions and small concerts, on a modular price scheme the Centre says it keeps deliberately favourable to communities. Everyone who runs the place is a volunteer.\n\nThe Centre is governed by Articles of Continuance and By-Laws approved by the membership on 3 March 2013 and registered four days later; the current version, By-Law No. 11, was validated on 21 March 2021. Almost 200 members carry the annual fees that keep the house open. Ottawai Magyar Ház is listed among the sponsors and partners printed on the UAFest 2026 poster.","city":"Ottawa, ON","businessName":null,"offering":null,"officialLinks":{"website":"https://omh-ohcc.ca/en/","facebook":"https://www.facebook.com/OttawaiMagyarHaz/","email":"info@omh-ohcc.ca","phone":"+1 613-225-8754"}},"uafest":{"types":["partner","ngo"],"years":[2026],"contributions":["Partnered"],"projects":[{"name":"Hall rental","role":"Weddings, bridal and baby showers, birthdays, graduations, retirement and Christmas parties, conferences, training sessions, social gatherings, small concerts and theatrical plays. 120 seated, 140 people in total."},{"name":"Friday dinners","role":"A heritage Hungarian meal cooked in the house: takeout pickup 4–6 p.m., dine-in 6–7 p.m., reservations by noon on the Thursday before."},{"name":"Library","role":"Nearly 4,000 titles, and the room for Hungarian language classes, classical literature circles, art and craft activities and small presentations."},{"name":"Guest ensembles and concerts","role":"Visiting folk dance, theatre and musical artists and ensembles from Hungary and the Hungarian diaspora, brought in by the Board of Directors."},{"name":"Membership","role":"$110 a year for a family and $70 for an adult; members elect the Board and get 20% off the Centre's own events."}],"relationship":"UAFest Family member"},"media":{"portrait":null,"logo":"/family/ottawa-hungarian-community-centre/logo.png","gallery":[{"src":"/family/ottawa-hungarian-community-centre/banner.webp","alt":"Ottawa Hungarian Community Centre — Ottawai Magyar Ház, logo"}],"videos":[]},"pricing":"Contact the member or business directly for current pricing and availability.","lastModified":"2026-09-03"}
